Reef Knot(平结)

1.  Keep the green cord as an axis, don't move it. Put the main cord under the axis, we have two parts, left cord and right cord;

2.  Put the left cord on the axis, let the left cord toward to right;

3.  Put the right on the left cord;


4.  Put the right cord under the axis, let the right cord toward left;

 5.  Using the right cord through the left circle. Then tight the cords; The first reef knot has done.

 6.  Put the right cord on the axis;

 7.  Put the left cord on the right cord;

8.  Put the left cord under the axis;

9.  Using the left cord through the right circle. Tight the cords, then the second reef knot has done.


10. Repeat the step 2 to step 9, knotting the cord until the length what you need;

11.  If you just repeat step 2 to step 5, then you can take spiral knot.

Double Connection Knot(双连结)

1.  One cord with two-way, the up one is green cord, the down one is red cord;

2.  Using the red cord make an anticlockwise circle, which named #1 circle;

3.  Using the green cord wrap the #1 circle, than make an anticlockwise circle, which named #2 circle;

4. Using the green cord through the #1 circle and #2 circle( the small hole which marked as white spot)

5.  Using the red cord through the #1 circle;

6.  According the arrow, tight the cord and adjust it, then done.

Reinforced Snake Knot or Jingang Knot(金刚结)

Sometimes, the snake knot is not very firm, so we use "reinforced snake knot" to replace snake knot.
"Reinforced Snake Knot" also named "Jingang Knot"(金刚结).

1.   One cord with two-way, the up one is green cord, the down one is red cord;

2.  Use the green cord make a clockwise circle(I called this is first green clockwise circle), then use the red cord through this circle;

3.  Repeat step 2, make the second green clockwise circle, make sure the red cord through these circles.

 4.  Use the red cord wrap the first and the second green clockwise circle, then make an anticlockwise circle, I called this is the first red anticlockwise circle.

 5. Tight the first green clockwise circle and the first red anticlockwise circle, keep the second green clockwise circle as untight;

 6.  Overturn the knot, keep the green cord as under, but red cord as up;

7.  Use the red cord wrap the second green clockwise circle, then make an anticlockwise circle, I called this is the second red anticlockwise circle.

8.   Tight the second green clockwise circle, keep the second red anticlockwise circle as untight;

 9.  Overturn the knot, keep the green cord as up, but red cord as down; Use the green cord wrap the second red anticlockwise circle, then make an anticlockwise circle; I called this is the third green anticlockwise circle;

10. Tight the second red anticlockwise circle, keep the third green anticlockwise circle as untight;

11.  Repeat step 6, step 7, step 8, step 9, step 10, until the length what you need.

Snake Knot(蛇结)

1.  One cord with two-way, the up one is green cord, the down one is red cord;

 2.  Use the green cord make a clockwise circle, then use the red cord through this circle;

3.  Use the red cord wrap the first clockwise circle, then make an anticlockwise circle; According the arrow and  tight these two cords;

4.  Repeat step 2 and step 3, until the length what you need.

Figure 8 knot(single, multiple)(八字结)

It seems that the figure 8 knot is the easiest one, please follow the instruction, you can totally do it.
Here is the single figure 8 knot:
1.  One cord with two-way, keep the right cord as an axis, don't move it.
2.  Put the left cord on the right one, make a clockwise circle; Then, put the left cord under the right one, make an anticlockwise circle.

 3.  Use the left cord through the first clockwise circle, on-under;

 4.  Adjust the cord, then done.

Here is the multiple figure 8 knot:
1.  One cord with two-way, keep the right cord as an axis, don't move it. Put the left cord on the right one, make a clockwise circle;
 2.  Move the cord under the right one, through the first clockwise circle, make sure the cord is on the left one.

 3.  Move the cord under the left one, through the first clockwise circle, make sure the cord is on the  right one.
 4.  Repeat step 3 and step 4;


 5.  Knot the cord until the length what you need, then tight the cord and adjust it.

Multiple figure 8 knot usually used in the end of bracelet, or some small items.

What do you need if you want to make Chinese Knot?

Basically, what we need is just cord!  Here are some typical cords which used in Chinese Knot making.
#2, diameter = 6.0 mm
#3, diameter = 4.5 mm
#4, diameter = 3.0 mm
#5, diameter = 2.5 mm
#6, diameter = 2.0 mm
#7, diameter = 1.5 mm

#2 and #3 are used for making big decoration, usually use it to decorate your home.

#4 and #5 are the most frequently used, we can use it to make some items which can used for decorating your bag, car, and so on. 

#6 and #7 are used for making some small items, like ring, earring, bracelet, etc. or item which can used for decorating your cell phone, key ring, and so on. 

What do you need to think about when you buy cord are the diameter of cord and the color. You'd better choose Nylon, but not polyester fiber, because of nylon is brighter. 

As a new learner, I suggest that you buy #4 and #5 cord, and red is the most popular color, because it means lucky.
